With only a personal server maintaining the privacy of records, a mistake by a physician, when he mistakenly switched it off, has led to the 6800 patient’s records being leaked on the internet.

The data breach has cost the health care consortium a total of $4.8 million and places thousands of patient’s personal data at risk.

The outlets did not have sufficient security policies in place.  If the data was encrypted consequences of the leak would not have had the same ramifications.
